When the Arizona Coyotes moved to Utah and became the Utah Hockey Club, and now the Utah Mammoth, the Arizona Coyotes franchise was born again as the Utah Mammoth. The franchise's first-ever captain was a superstar Clayton Keller, who has not disappointed for the Mammoth so far. And in the 2025-26 season, Keller continued to do what he has done in the last few years- be amazing.

2025-2026 Stats: 26 G, 62 A, 88 PTS, 21+/-, 2.6 WAR

Keller, for the second straight season, led the team in points, racking up 62 assists and 26 goals. Although Keller, for the first time since the 21-22 season, didn't manage to score 30 goals or more, Keller was able to tally the most assists of his career. Keller also turned around his plus/minus (how many goals allowed vs scored when on ice), which was +21.

Previously, Keller's +/- was -12 in 2024-25 and -20 in 23-24, showing nice improvement. As for his WAR, or wins above replacement (how many wins a player provided over the average player playing his position), Keller's WAR was a good 2.6. Ultimately, Keller didn't have a career year, but he put together another good season and helped the Mammoth reach the postseason for the first time in their young existence.

2025-26 Grade: B+

Keller wasn't the best player in the NHL this season. However, Keller's 88 points this season ranked 15th best in the NHL, which is very good. Keller was the top offensive player for a team that performed exceptionally well compared to the Arizona Coyotes, who missed the playoffs for four straight seasons before moving to Utah. The one thing the Mammoth might like more from Keller is goals: as Keller scored 37, 33, and 30 goals in 2022-23, 2023-24, and 24-25, respectively.

Even then, though, Keller's assists can't be undervalued. Keller had two teammates who scored a ton of goals: Dylan Guenther, who scored 40, and Nick Schmaltz, who surprisingly scored 33. Not to mention Logan Cooley, JJ Peterka, and Lawson Crouse all managed to score more than 20 goals. In total, that is five players, not including Keller, who scored 20-40 goals. Sometimes, in hockey, assists can be just as valuable as goals, as players like Keller show.

Can Keller Be One of the Best Players In the NHL In the Future

The question remains for the soon-to-be 28-year-old: Is Keller in his prime, or is there still more to come? There is no question that the Mammoth's offense is waiting to explode. Why? Guenther is just 23 and scored 40 goals. Peterka, Crouse, and Schmaltz are all good offensive players. Cooley is a future superstar, and there is even more help on the way with some young talent, with even some talent that isn't even in the NHL yet.

When the team gets better around Keller, and it probably will, Keller could blossom into an even bigger star. Really, the only thing that is for sure is that Utah is going to be very exciting for years to come, led by their superstar Keller. Perhaps Utah's goaltending can improve, but the Mammoth's goal scoring is good and will only get better. Keller is one of the main reasons.
