According to the NHL, only one of the Utah Mammoth's superstar players is a top 20 wing in the NHL. NHL. com ranked the top 20 wings, with obvious amazing players like Nikita Kucherov and Mitch Marner toping the list. Clayton Keller, the Mammoth captain, ranked as the 17th best wing in the NHL after an 88 point season in the 2025-26 season. Dylan Guenther though didn't make the list despite a great season with 40 goals. The 23-year-old definitely can join the list with another elite showing.
Should Guenther be considered a top 20 wing?
In the 2024-25 season, Guenther really showed promise and the ability to be an affective goal scorer with 27 goals and 33 assists for a total of 60 points. This definitely raised eyebrows, but it was this last season that proved Guenther is a superstar. Guenther scored 40 goals while still adding 33 assists. The point total of 73 was only good enough for 42nd in the NHL, but Guenther was 13th in the NHL in goals. Interestingly, Guenther was also 8th in goals among wings and 17th in points among wings. Simply put, Guenther could've easily made the list after putting up very solid numbers. The snub may have been for a reason though.
Guenther still needs to prove he can put up such offensive numbers for consecutive seasons. At the age of 23, Guenther is still very young and can regress. The good news though is that the Mammoth are only getting better, especially at goal scoring. Keller, and Vincent Trocheck, the recent addition by Utah, can both stack assists. The go to player when Utah needs a goal will be none other than Guenther who can score even more in the 2026-27 season. The Mammoth jumped from 21st in goals per game to 12th last season, but Utah would love to see that number raise even higher.
A lot of the Mammoth hopes for getting a better overall offense hinges on Guenther, Logan Cooley, and even Tij Iginla, who may very well be in the NHL in 2026. Guenther, with another strong performance in the future, will definitely join such lists in the future.
