The Utah Mammoth were unfortunately unable to come away with a win on Thursday night against the Montreal Canadiens.

However, they still came away with a point thanks to a remarkable performance from Logan Cooley. A performance that put Cooley in the record books.

Cooley has passed Alex Ovechkin in one category

Cooley recorded his second hat trick in four games against the Canadiens, surpassing Alex Ovechkin as the fastest active player to record five hat tricks.

Cooley has struggled to rack up goals in points for the first half dozen games of the season, with zero goals after scoring 24 in just 54 games last season.

Cooley has had a remarkable breakout. In his last ten games, he has scored 11 goals while adding four assists. He has simply been the best player on the offense and is looking like a Connor McDavid caliber player at times.

He has speed and talent; the 22-year-old has just struggled at times to put it to good use. Now, he is starting to take control and show just how good an offensive superstar can be. It would certainly be interesting if Cooley could become the best player on the Mammoth offense.

The Utah defense and goalies have struggled so much that this kind of performance is the exact performance that is needed for the Mammoth to survive this season.

A Connor McDavid-like performance. We'll see if Cooley continues to do such things or if he will cool down a bit. He is on a special heater right now.
