The Utah Mammoth comes into the 2026-27 season with two mega prospects. However, things might not look so good concerning one prospect after an injury in a showcase against the USA. Tij Iginla comes into this next season as the best prospect in the Mammoth organization, but the 4th overall selection of the 2025 NHL draft, Caleb Desnoyers, isn't far behind Iginla. Unfortunately for Utah fans, Desnoyers suffered a leg injury on August 1st and hasn't given fans an update yet.
Caleb Desnoyers Injury Still Without a Major Update
Right now, the Mammoth are hoping their second-best prospect and a top-15 prospect in all of the NHL is okay. At the World Junior Showcase, Desnoyers had an awkward collision while playing for Team Canada that would lead him to go to the tunnel against the USA. Right now, there remains no meaningful update on the 19-year-old potential superstar for Utah. But Utah really would love to see Desnoyers healthy for the 2026-27 season. Both Iginla and Desnoyers are prospects that Utah could see in the NHL next season, especially Iginla, who has proved to be an offensive force.
Really, at the very least, the Mammoth want to see Desnoyers develop more in the AHL, and of course, an injury could set Desnoyers back a little bit. For now, very little is known about the injury to Desnoyers, but the Mammoth better hope that he is okay. One of the reasons why Utah had such a great offseason is the fact that neither Iginla nor Desnoyers was traded to get a player like Vincent Trocheck. Hopefully, Utah can still feel the effect of that.
