On Saturday, the Utah Mammoth will wrap up preseason by hosting the Colorado Avalanche.
Last night, the Mammoth got close to taking down the Vegas Golden Knights on the road, but came up just short in overtime, losing 5-4.
Utah impresses despite the loss with a much worse team
The Mammoth decided to roll out without the majority of its best players, while Vegas did the opposite. Despite being younger and less talented, the Mammoth nearly defeated the VGK.

Still lost 5-4 in regulation but what an effort by the Mammoth. They faced a vastly superior roster and pushed them for 60 minutes.
Cossa was very impressive, especially considering the team in front of him.
Utah and Vegas still played a shootout since the teams can do whatever they want in preseason. Jack Eichel ended OT to give VGK a win, avoiding an upset. Tij Iginla scored the only goal in the Mammoth's 1-0 win in the extra shootout.
Utah got goals from Zac Jones, Liam O'Brien (second), Artem Duda, and Tomas Lavoie. Lavoie scored late in the 3rd period to give Utah a 4-3 lead.
Unfortunately, however, much like the playoff series that Utah was defeated in last season, the Mammoth allowed a very late goal by Tomas Hertl which tied the game late.
This, of course, led to OT and a VGK win. Although fans may be concerned about the Mammoth's supposed inability to hold a lead, it's preseason.
There is no reason to be worried given the talent that Vegas had on the ice compared to Utah.
