The Mammoth have two mega prospects with very high ceilings. This includes Tij Iginla and Caleb Desnoyers.
Earlier this year, however, Desnoyers suffered an injury at the World Junior Summer Showcase, and his health status remains uncertain.
Is Caleb Desnoyers fully healthy for 2026-27?
Desnoyers remains present at rookie camp. Yet that doesn't mean that Desnoyers is healthy and ready to go in 2026-27.
Since his injury, the mega prospect's health status has been unknown. If he participates in preseason and actually plays in games, it would be safe to assume he is healthy. But nothing is certain at the moment.

The 19-year-old was selected fourth overall by Utah in the 2025 draft and can have a large impact in 2026-27. It is impossible to predict how big an impact he will have if he stays healthy, since the Mammoth already have multiple good, capable centers.
However, it wouldn't be a surprise if Utah plans to give Desnoyers and Iginla significant ice time, given their ceiling. Desnoyers established himself as the No. 1 center and captain for the QJMHL team, the Moncton Wildcats. In 2025-26, Desnoyers scored 22 goals and added 56 assists, showing his potential as an offensive force.
Even if Desnoyers is healthy, it's unclear how quickly he will be ready for the NHL, given that he hasn't even played a game in the AHL. Plus, between Desnoyers and Iginla, it's clear Iginla would get an NHL roster spot before Desnoyers - thanks to the fact that he is older and has shown unbelievable potential.
For now, though, Mammoth fans would love to see the health status of one of their best prospects. If Desnoyers isn't fully healthy, that could be concerning for Utah. It would be very fun to watch such a high-ceiling kind of player in 2026-27.
