As the Stanley Cup shifts to Vegas, the Carolina Hurricanes have taken a 3-2 series lead and finally looked like themselves in game 5 of the series. However, the regular season is over, and the NHL has revealed it's first and second All-Star teams. However, unfortunately for the Utah Mammoth, none of their stars managed to secure a spot on the teams:
First All-Star team
LW, Jason Robertson, Dallas Stars
C, Connor McDavid, Edmonton Oilers
RW, Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning
D, Cale Makar, Colorado Avalanche
D, Zach Werenski, Columbus Blue Jackets
G, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Tampa Bay Lightning
The first All-Star definitely is amazing, with Robertson being first team left winger thanks to his 45 goal, 51 assist season that saw him score 96 points. The first team center, Connor McDavid, scored 138 points with 48 goals and 90 assists. The Hart Trophy winner and first team right winger, Nikita Kucherov, scored130 points, 44 goals, and 86 assists. Cale Makar and Zach Werenski, the defenseman on the first team were both great defensively while also adding significant offense, as Makar scored 20 goals and added 59 assists. Werenski, who won the Norris Trophy, scored 22 goals and added 59 assists (81 points). The first All-Star team is then rounded out with goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, who did amazing things again this season with a 39-15-4 record, .912 SV%, and just 2.31 goals allowed per game.
Second All-Star team
LW, Cole Caufield, Montreal Canadians
C, Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado Avalanche
RW, David Pastrnak, Boston Bruins
D, Evan Bouchard, Edmonton Oilers
D, Rasmus Dahlin, Buffalo Sabres
G, Logan Thompson, Washington Capitals
The second All-Star team was still amazing. Cole Caufield earned the second team left winger with 51 goals and 37 assists. The second team center is Nathan MacKinnon did MacKinnon things with 127 points, thanks to a league-leading 53 goals and still 74 assists. The second team right winger is David Pastrnak, who only scored 29 goals, but also added 71 assists, bringing him up to 100 points. The two second team defenseman is Evan Bouchard and Rasmus Dahlin. Bouchard somehow managed to rake in 91 points with 21 goals and 74 assists. Dahlin was the engine of the Buffalo Sabres team, and managed to play great defense and also scored 19 goals with 55 assists (74 points).
The final player on the second team is goalie Logan Thompson, who continued to be one the best in the NHL: 31-21-6, 2.44 GAA, .912 SV%, 4 SO. These numbers in 58 games were pretty insane.
Overall, the Utah Mammoth didn't get an All-Star. However, that isn't very surprising considering the youth of the team and the talent of the All-Star team. Hopefully, the Mammoth can soon get their first All-Star. With how talented the team is, it definitely would make a lot of sense in the near future to have an All-Star. For now though, the All-Star team, which was excellent this season, is without any Mammoth.
