The Utah Mammoth decided to focus this offseason on adding veterans to their young team. Among the veterans they added were Vincent Trocheck and Anders Lee. Lee isn't considered a superstar and probably isn't going to be as affective as Trocheck, but Lee still can score.
The 2025-26 season for Lee was just another year of consistency from the former New York Islander captain. In other words, Lee can definitely still bring a lot to the table for Utah in the 2026-27 season.
Can Anders Lee be a huge addition with his consistency?
In the 2025-26 season, Lee continued to be a great offensive player for the Islanders with 19 goals and 23 assists. Despite these numbers not exactly jumping off the page, Lee has scored between 19 and 28 goals every year since 2018-19, excluding the shortened 2020 season.
Lee adds two big things to Utah: experience and consistency. Even though 19 goals this last season wasn't exactly impressive, that's still a good amount, and it still shows that he is capable of easily adding 20+ goals. The Mammoth have a ton of young talent, with players like Logan Cooley and Dylan Guenther, Tij Iginla, and Daniil But.
The hope is that with a veteran presence, these players can learn and lean on Lee. Lee adds a nice aesthetic without sacrificing talent. Such an addition is exactly what a team needs for postseason runs and success. One of the best players the Carolina Hurricanes had last postseason was the veteran Jordan Staal, who won the Conn Smythe Trophy.
That was obviously a rare occurrence, but the Canes definitely underlined the need for talented veterans who can lead a team. Some of their best players didn't do too well, which led to the emergence of older guys like Staal and Taylor Hall. With Utah adding Lee, they hope to add that kind of presence to their team.
Lee's 2025-26 season wasn't anything too special, but it shows that the 36-year-old still has a lot of value.
