The Utah Mammoth will look to build off of a playoff appearance last season. A great goal scorer or even point scorer would help that goal.
Here's three players who could lead Utah in points:
3. C Logan Cooley
The 22-year-old Logan Cooley is one player that the Mammoth would love to see a massive breakout in the 2026-27 season. The former 3rd overall selection in the 2022 NHL draft has struggled a bit but did show the ability to score goals in the 2025-26 season.
Cooley scored 24 goals and added 19 assists for only 43 points in 54 games. That doesn't jump off the page, but it shows he can score goals. Had he played 82 games, 24 goals would've been 36 goals.
Now, Utah would like to see those assists tick up, but with Dylan Guenther and probably Anders Lee on the second line, the center does have the ammunition for a great season in multiple ways. If you ask Utah fans, well, they'd probably say that they're excited to see the deadly duo of Guenther and Cooley. Cooley is one player who could break out and become one of the best centers in the game.
2. RW Dylan Guenther
Dylan Guenther is the top goal scorer on the team after his 40-goal, 33-assist season. The 23-year-old has improved every season of his career, so maybe he can get a lot more assists.
Utah wouldn't mind just seeing Guenther put up a lot of goals, but seeing an 80+ point season from Guenther might be expected at some point. This next season, can Guenther continue to grow into one of the best wingers in the game?
No one knows if he can continue to get even better, but coming into October, it certainly seems like Guenther can grow into one of the best not just in the winger category but in the whole NHL. Expect to see a lot from Guenther in the 2026-27 season.
1. RW Clayton Keller
Clayton Keller scored 90 points in the 2024-25 season and 88 in the last season. With even more talent around him, Keller might easily lead the team in points. The 27-year-old saw a considerable fall in goals as he only scored 26 after four straight 30 goal seasons. But...
Keller scored a nice 62 assists. On the first line with Keller should be Nick Schmaltz and Vincent Trocheck, plus he should, at times, have other talented wingers or defenders he can pass the puck to.
It would probably be fair to say that Utah expects Keller to continue his consistency and put up 85+ points. With this being his most talented team, perhaps the captain can even do better than that with 90+ points.
If I had to choose one player who will lead the points, then it would have to be Keller.
