The Utah Mammoth are currently 10-6 and are still yet to have lost back-to-back games this season. But they may leading the Central Division right now if they had a stable goalie situation.
Last night, Sebastian Cossa made his fifth start and impressed, offering some much needed stability and giving Utah a pretty big question.
Should the Mammoth reconsider the starting goalie position?
The starting goalie, Karel Vejmelka, has had a terrible season thus far. He's allowing 3.31 goals per game and his save percentage is an abysmal .872%. He is 6-5-0 after going 38-20-3 last season. His numbers weren't great last season either, but at the least, the Mammoth could rely on him.
Lately, it has felt lile win, lose, win, lose, etc. When the offense performs, Utah wins. When they don't, Vejmelka has a bad day and the Mammoth lose. Simply put, he hasn't been good at all.
Cossa doesn't have great numbers either, but after last night, when he made 27 saves on 29 shots, he is 4-1-0. His save percentage jumped up to .875, and he is now allowing 2.95 goals per game. His numbers are inflated by back-to-back ugly games, where he was pulled in a 6-1 loss against the Boston Bruins and had to come in for Vejmelka in a 6-1 loss.

Both, and his SV% has been above .900. The 23-year-old former first-round pick has now played in a total of just seven games in his career. In the last two games started by Cossa, Utah has won both, and his SV% was above .900.
But the youngster may face a tough challenge if Vejmelka continues to struggle. Cossa is certainly making Utah wonder if he is worth switching over to. We'll see Utah's decision against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.
