The Utah Mammoth missed another major opportunity to take the lead in the Central Division. Utah has now lost three of its last five games, with this loss against the Minnesota Wild stinging.

The Mammoth played a sloppy game and weren't able to get to goalie Jesper Wallstedt, leading to a not-so-great loss.

The Mammoth lose 3-1 against the Wild

The Mammoth committed seven penalties. Utah has struggled to kill penalties so far, so this was a recipe for disaster.

After a scoreless first period, the Mammoth continued to play an ugly game, penalty-wise. Joel Eriksson Ek finally broke the seal on the game with a score late in the second period.

Karel Vejmelka played a pretty good game, but the pressure kept mounting. In the third period, the Wild got another power play opportunity and converted as Kirill Kaprizov pushed the lead to 2-0.

The Wild put the Mammoth away with another goal, this time by Maxim Shabonov, a little bit later in the third period. The Mammoth weren't going to get shut out as Logan Cooley scored a goal late to make it 3-1.

The Mammoth just wern't able to keep the Wild off the board for long as the amount of power play opportunites was too much.

Utah simply must clean things up majorly to give itself a solid chance in the future.

Next, the Mammoth take on the Pittsburgh Penguins again, this time on the road. Hopefully, Utah can bounce back in a big way and get some of its earlier confidence back.
