The Utah Mammoth were unable to win two in a row against the Edmonton Oilers with an unfortunate loss on Saturday night.
The Oilers are now a perfect 5-0-0 on the road this season and showed the kind of offense that they've had for the majority of the season.
Oilers bounce back with a 6-2 win
Just 40 seconds into the first period, Connor McDavid scored a nice goal to put Edmonton out in front 1-0.
Over 10 minutes later, Zach Hyman scored a power-play goal to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead. That lead grew to 3-0 after Matheiu Joseph scored an unassisted goal.
This wasn't the first time Utah found itself down 3-0 in the second period and looked like it was going to lose. In the second period, Edmonton didn't slow down as Kasperi Kapanen made it 4-0. The Oilers scored their fifth goal of the night with Leon Draisaitl netting another nice goal.
In the third period, Utah prevented a shutout when defenseman John Marino scored, making it 5-1. A couple of minutes later, Mikhail Sergachev scored his third goal of the season, giving Utah something to be happy about. Unfortunately, McDavid scored again later in the period, making the final score 6-2.
This game was a disappointing way to lose a three-game win streak. However, Utah has a good chance to redeem itself on Monday night as it hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Hopefully, the Mammoth can get off to a better start and ensure that they don't lose multiple games in a row, which Utah has yet to do through nine games.
