Every season in every sport, there is a ton of hype around young players who could make their mark on a team. Some might never, some might a little, while others could literally become immediate stars, and rarely but occasionally, some might even become superstars. The Utah Mammoth may very well have a player on their hands that could change their team immediately. This player could do amazing things.
Tij Iginla may be the best prospect in the NHL
The Mammoth selected the now super prospect Tij Iginla 6th overall in the 2024 NHL draft. Iginla was intriguing for multiple reasons: he was very talented and the son of Hall of Famer Jerome Iginla. Iginla has performed very well in the WHL since being drafted, as in the 2025-26 season, Iginla, 19, scored 41 goals and added 49 assists in only 48 games. That is 90 points in just 48 games, which is utterly insane. The hype, however, only grew when Iginla performed very well in the World Junior Championship for Canada. Iginla was among the team's best players, among other very good prospects.
Iginla has speed, a wonderful shot, and pretty much everything you could hope for in a good offensive player. Many were impressed by how well Iginla performed in training camp with other young Mammoth prospects. The ETA for the 19-year-old to the NHL is unknown, but it seems Iginla could start the season in the NHL, given how determined the guy is. Iginla is determined to reach the NHL as he continues to perform really well. The hype around Iginla is gigantic thanks to his speed, athleticism, and scoring ability. If the Mammoth need a goal-scorer soon, they know where they can get one. Iginla could be an absolute game changer for Utah.
