The Utah Mammoth were hoping to bounce back big on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
And that they did. The Mammoth were able to come away with a thrilling overtime win.
The Mammoth win behind Dmitri Simashev's career night
The Lightning got off to a fast start as Jake Guentzel was given a goal after Nate Schmidt accidentally knocked the puck right through Karel Vejmelka's pads.
The Mammoth quickly tied the game when Kailer Yamamoto scored an unassisted goal, making it 1-1. After the Mammoth survived a power play from Tampa Bay, Pontus Holmberg scored an insane goal.
Vejmelka didn't have a chance to stop the shot as the Lightning retook the lead. Later in the first period, the Mammoth penalty kill continued to struggle as Brayden Point scored another goal to make it 3-1.
The Mammoth power play stayed red-hot as Dylan Guenther scored an impressive goal, making it 3-2 heading into the second period. Connor Geekie scored to make it 4-2, beating Mikhail Sergachev.
Utah didn't back down, though, as Anders Lee added his third goal of the season to make it 4-3. Later in the period, Dmitri Simashev scored his first NHL goal on a delayed penalty with an impressive snipe.
The third period ended up being scoreless as both goalies stepped up. The game then went to overtime, where J.J. Moser got a chance to end it on a turnover and breakaway, but Vejmelka made the save.
The Mammoth offense came back as Barrett Hayton set up a perfect goal from Simashev to end the game. Vejmelka technically got his first point of the season, earning an assist as well. Simashev showed his capability as a goal scorer last night.

The Mammoth will take on the Minnesota Wild next Tuesday night. Both teams are tied for the Central Division lead.
