The NHL had a couple of interesting announcements as the NHL looks to continue to thrive.

New jersey, similiar to MLB City Connect, to be released in 2026-27

The NHL will release a "hometown remix" jersey for every team in the 2026-27 season. This is very similiar to what the MLB released a couple of seasons ago.

The MLB released a City Connect jersey designed to connect with local culture and the city. The NHL is following suit as it tries to expand the sport. The Utah Mammoth have a lot to work with when it coems to their alternate jersey. Mountains, snow, mammoths, and more.

It will be exciting to see how every team decides to bring in a new alternate uniform. Some might stink; others might be amazing. The Mammoth have no reason not to release a great jersey.

The NHL is coming to Germany

Two of the best German players in the NHL will visit their hometowns in Germany. JJ Peterka and Leon Draisaitl will both play in their respective hometowns of Munich and Cologne.

The NHL is attempting to expand its footprint beyond America and Canada and into Europe. Germany has produced a lot of NHL talent and finished sixth at the Winter Olympics, its best finish.

The NHL has seen growth because of patriotism in countries with the 4 Nations Face-Off and the Winter Olympics. Both matches ended up being the USA against Canada, but other nations like Sweden and Finland didn't do badly either. And of course, Germany also didn't look bad in the Olympics either.

The NHL's attempt to connect with the Germans is a good idea, given how well the sport has done when nations face off against each other. The NHL is only getting stronger with announcements like this.
