A lot of Utah Mammoth fans can't wait until next season. Now, the NHL has revealed who the Mammoth will play in what should be a very exciting home opener. Mammoth fans will be very loud a season after the new franchise made the postseason for the first time. The 2026-27 season is the season for Utah to finally compete, and the first home opponent will be the Chicago Blackhawks.

Utah to host the Blackhawks in home opener

On October 1st, the Mammoth will return to Delta Center to take on the Blackhawks at home. This next season is the opening of a window- a competition window. Utah came out of the 2025-26 season already looking pretty good, but so far this offseason, the Mammoth have had one of the best. It will be very exciting to see the Mammoth next season, as the Central Division will be the best in hockey. The Central Division will have the following teams: Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and Utah Mammoth. The division also includes the Winnipeg Jets, St. Louis Blues, Nashville Predators, and, of course, the Blackhawks, albeit these teams aren't as good as the other teams (for now)

Chicago has missed the playoffs quite often since its dynasty about a decade ago. The division rival will be without its best player when it opens against Utah and will face a lot of pressure to perform, but the Hawks will likely be the worst team in the division. At the very least, it is going to be awesome to see how Utah performs with a better team against a division rival, as the team will be riding on new life. After making the postseason last season, only one thing is for sure: the team is going to be pumped to play next season, and so will the fans.
