The roller coaster of emotion for the Utah Mammoth faithful can now reach a high with the new contract for Logan Cooley. A 7-game winning streak was wonderful, but it ended when a 2-0 lead ended in a 6-3 defeat to the Edmonton Oilers. Now, the Mammoth will have a top-line center for 8 more years.

The Utah Mammoth announced this morning that they have agreed to a new contract with Logan Cooley for 8 years, worth $10 million a year, totaling $80 million.

The 2022 third overall draft choice of the Arizona Coyotes will now be a Utah Mammoth for the long term. The 21-year-old center is finishing up his entry-level contract this season, where he is being paid $950,000.

The Pittsburgh native will be part of a core that is locked up for the near future in Utah. Dylan Guenther, JJ Peterka, Jack McBain, Clayton Keller, and Mikhail Sergachev are all under contract for at least the next three seasons.

Cooley started the season off slowly before this recent road trip, where he has 6 goals and 3 assists in 4 games, including a first-period hat trick in St. Louis. Last year, Cooley had a career season with 25 goals and 65 points.

Clearly, Bill Armstrong and the organization see a star in the making and expect those career numbers to catapult in the coming years. This will bring some settlement to the organization and Cooley, continuing a big season for the franchise, and avoiding further distractions.
