The summer moves on and the NHL season is getting closer and closer. The Utah Mammoth have made some noise this summer with the acquisition of JJ Peterka from the Buffalo Sabres and signing depth players like Nate Schmidt and Brandon Tanev. Although the team stayed in the playoff hunt for most of the season, the team has yet to have that iconic goal to remember as a franchise. Surely that will all change this upcoming season, but for now, the top goal must be from the opening night.

Dylan Guenther got things started early in Utah when he posted the first goal in franchise history on October 8th, just 4:56 into the game. Guenther was on a new contract, further solidifying the financial stability of the new franchise and paying off dividends early.

The goal was the first of three in the game, which led to the Utah franchise's first-ever victory by a score of 5-2 over the Chicago Blackhawks. The Delta Center did not disappoint, and now former Utah player, Michael Kesselring, had the primary assist. It was the first of two goals on the night for Guenther, but this one still holds up as the most iconic goal in the young franchise's history.

Most franchises will remember a big playoff goal or a series-clinching goal, but the Mammoth have yet to have that one game or goal that the fan base will never forget besides the first one in the first game for the franchise.

Guenther has put the puck in the net and will continue to in his career, but this will be one that he will never forget, and the fan base will never forget. I have a feeling that this upcoming season will have at least one goal that will put its stamp on the list for the most iconic goal in Utah history.
