I probably don't need to explain the term "carry" in sports. That's when a player does so well that it feels like he is dragging them across the finish line.
Well, the Utah Mammoth have some of those players who can do just that. Here are three players who could drag the Mammoth farther than some expect in 2026-27.
RW Clayton Keller
Clayton Keller has been the Mammoth's top offensive player and, for a while, the Arizona Coyotes'. After scoring 26 goals and adding 62 assists in 2025-26, Keller remained a major offensive force.
Keller now has probably the most talent he's ever had. With as many assists and goals as he can score, he may put up very good offensive numbers. This includes 30+ goals and 60+ assists.
When it comes to a Mammoth player who can absolutely carry the team, Keller might come to mind for many people in the NHL world. In 2026-27, perhaps he can become an even better offensive player and really impress.
LW Dylan Guenther
Dylan Guenther is no doubt the favorite to lead this team in goals after scoring 40 last season. Guenther, 23, a former first-round pick, has gotten better every season. If his advanced stats show one thing, it's that he isn't going to slow down.
Guenther will easily score many goals this season. Plus, he is probably the favorite, by a lot, to lead the team in goals. Can Guenther take another step forward, however? For example, add a ton of assists and score even more goals? That is a big question.
It's not easy to score more than 40 goals, nor is it easy to add up a lot of assists. But Guenther, being as dangerous and as talented as he is, could definitely carry the team.
C Logan Cooley
The center and former No. 3 overall pick, Logan Cooley, has the potential to be one of the best players in the NHL. IN 54 games, Cooley scored 24 goals and added 19 assists.
If Cooley were fully healthy, he might have scored a lot more than 30 goals. Utah needs to see him add more assists in the future, especially considering he player the center position.
However, with his speed and ability to score goals, Cooley can definitey become the center Utah wants him to be.
Among players who can break out, Cooley might lead the pack.
And of course, he can carry the team. Cooley definitely has some untapped potential that Utah would like to see used.
