Utah Hockey Club are looking to stay undefeated. The hockey club will play the New Jersey Devils (3-1) today at 1 p.m. at Prudential Center.

We are seeing the potential in this team. We didn’t expect this fast start. It’s early in the season. We could see a winning or losing streak happen at some point, but this is a good stepping stone.

Utah finished coming off a big win in Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers. On Saturday, Utah won 6-5 in overtime. It was a wild and competitive game. Utah scored four of its six goals in the second period.

This was a huge statement win over the New York Rangers.

Utah Hockey Club vs New Jersey Devils Preview

The Rangers are a playoff team, arguably a Stanley Cup-contending team. The Devils are also a playoff team with the potential to compete for the Stanley Cup after the addition of their goalie, Jacob Markstorm.

Markstorm is one of the elite goaltenders in the NHL. It will be interesting to see Utah’s offense go up against Markstorm. The competition will be tense because Utah has shown that it can be physical and tough and figure its opponents out.

We need to appreciate the fact that Utah is on a good road trip and picking up these wins. The way they performed against the Rangers was impressive.

Utah didn’t give up and never allowed themselves to take their foot off the gas. They scored late and clutch goals against an outstanding team. It’s a good mental game for this hockey club.

Utah’s defense needs to improve and avoid allowing more than three goals. Connor Ingram needs to play better today against the Devils.

Utah must find a way to stop Devils right winger Stefan Noesen and center Paul Cotter. Noesen and Cotter are combining for 10 points and delivering 17 hits.

Utah also doesn’t want to let talented players like Timo Meier and Jack Hughes gain any confidence in this game. Those two players are due to have big games early in the season.

As for Utah’s offense, it looks good. They know how to put the puck in the net.

The top six forwards look unstoppable. They gel well together. Clayton Keller is having a terrific season so far. The captain is delivering production on the ice, especially assisting his teammates.

21-year-old right winger Dylan Guenther is having an MVP-caliber season through three games. He has already scored five goals and leads the league in goals.

Center Logan Cooley has five assists. Center Barrett Hayton has five points (3 goals, two assists).

Utah has scored 16 goals this season. This gives us reasons to believe in this team, and their future looks bright if they keep it up. A team with confidence and poise is dangerous to stop
