The major moves of the offseason for Utah have pretty much already taken place. One move that could've happened never did- and it is a good thing for Mammoth fans. Especially after some recent news concerning Dylan Larkin. The Mammoth instead decided to trade for a different superstar, and also sign one as well, instead of trading for Larkin. The Mammoth made a very good decision by doing this.
Red Wings may be trying to sell Larkin for a high price tag
The Detroit Red Wings have been trying to trade their superstar for a while now. Even before the NHL Draft and in early June, it was rumored that the Mammoth were interested in a center, but instead, on June 27th, they traded for Sebastian Cossa, a high prospect goalie from Detroit. This didn't mean the end of things for Utah and Larkin, but then, on July 1st, Utah proceeded to make a couple of moves, with the highlight move being the trade for center Vincent Trocheck. Trocheck automatically gave Utah a very talented center and a 3rd great center, which officially meant that Utah wasn't trading for Larkin.
Now, 18 days later, Larkin has pretty much refused to update his trade list, which is the Vegas Golden Knights, Florida Panthers, and the Minnesota Wild. The only possible team Larkin could be traded to from the bunch is the Wild, but even then, both teams have been unable to strike a deal. Apparently, the Red Wings were looking for Matt Boldy, a 25-year-old superstar who scored 42 goals and 85 points, in return for Larkin. This obviously isn't even in question for Minnesota, as Boldy is WAY better offensively than Larkin.
If Detroit is actually asking for this much, then Utah should be very glad to have traded for Trocheck instead. Larkin does have a bit better offense, but Trocheck, like Larkin, can do a little bit of everything. Trocheck is one of the best all-around players in the NHL. Better yet, Trocheck didn't cost nearly as much as what Larkin could've cost.
