A couple of days ago, The Athletic named one villain for each NHL team. Interestingly, the newest franchise, the Utah Mammoth, has an unusual villain. Every other NHL team has someone that makes sense, but the Utah Mammoth don't yet. The list has the villain for the Utah Mammoth as "no one". There are some players who could come to mind as potential villains, like Pavel Dorofeyev or Brett Howden. However, for now, I suppose, Utah is without a big bad villain for the franchise yet.
Are the Mammoth still without a big rival or villain?
Thanks to still being a very young franchise that hasn't done too much, there really isn't a team that Mammoth fans probably hate. The Vegas Golden Knights would top the list of teams that fans would dislike for defeating them in the first round of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Even then, though, Utah wasn't expected to go too far, and they should surpass the VGK in talent soon with the offseason both teams have had. Mammoth fans probably dislike the St. Louis Blues, but the Blues don't exactly pose too much of a threat, as they are rebuilding. The Mammoth should probably dominate St. Louis in the future to a certain extent.
There are still the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, and Minnesota Wild- the three big bad teams of the Central Division. It will be interesting to see rivalries form between Utah and these three teams as each seeks to compete for and win the division. The team that stands out is the Av's, though, as both teams seem like they could make a fun rivalry in years to come. The list does address players, though, not teams, which is notable. Fortunately for Mammoth fans, there isn't a single player they dislike immensely. Maybe the Mammoth are just a nice team? Maybe, but it is interesting to see that there really isn't one player or team they dislike.
