A former Utah Mammoth forward has decided to begin his coaching career. The retired center has interestingly decided to join the staff of the Mammoth's AHL team, the Tucson Roadrunners. The forward recently announced his retirement and quickly decided to become a coach for the Mammoth organization. Ultimately, this former player will seek to climb his way up the coaching ladder.
Andrew Agozzino will join the Tucson Roadrunners
Andrew Agozzino, 35, has just 53 career games under his belt in the NHL. Agozzino also played in two games with the Mammoth in the 2025-26 season. Ultimately though, Agozzino decided to retire on Tuesday from professional hockey. Now, Agozzino has decided to begin his coaching career. Agozzino was at one point an alternate captain for the Roadrunners, which is now the team that he has joined to coach. The assistant coach will now seek to do well and hopefully reach the NHL as a coach sooner than later. The Mammoth have already added an assistant coach in Adam Foote to their NHL team as they seek to get better.
For now, the Mammoth emphaise seems to be on defense as they want to compete. The defense of Utah wasn't bad last season, but it wasn't great either. Adding veterans to coaching staffs making sense.
