Logan Cooley has been on a heater lately, recently carrying the Mammoth to a 4-3 overtime victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Cooley completed a hat trick Thursday night, tying the game with one second left and sending it to overtime. Utah eventually won on a goal by Mikhail Sergachev. Cooley has been quite a story thus far.

Logan Cooley is starting to break out

Cooley, through the first seven games of the season, had zero goals and only four assists. He wasn't very aggressive; instead, he set up nice shots on goal. Since then, Cooley has seven goals and two assists.

Cooley has been on a heater and has been a problem for opposing defenses. Against the Penguins, he started off strong and scored two goals in the first period. The Penguins crawled back and even took a 3-2 lead with 25 seconds to go. The Mammoth were still able to create a nice offensive chance and Cooley scored an amazing goal to tie things up at 3-3.

Cooley's goal with a second left sent the game to overtime, where Sergachev scored his fourth goal of the season to end the game in Utahs favor.

The 22-year-old Cooley was drafted third overall in the 2022 draft and has struggled to break out into the superstar he can be. Last season, the center scored 24 goals in 54 games and added 19 assists, putting together a solid season overall.

If he can keep stacking goals and assists, he will become the superstar Utah saw in him when they drafted him. Last night was certainly a showing from Cooley.

Can he continue to carry this Mammoth team? We shall see.
