The Utah Mammoth had been pretty quiet for the majority of day one of free agency- until they started to cook up some trades and signings. First, Utah traded for superstar, Vincent Trocheck, and now, the Mammoth have made a pretty big signing in free agency. The Mammoth are seeking to contend NOW, and adding veterans to help their chances make a lot of sense.

Anders Lee agrees to 3-year, $5.4M AAV deal

Anders Lee is an veteran who has played all of his career in New York, playing for New York Islanders. Lee in his career has been quite the goal-scorer, as the 35-year-old has 308 career goals, and Lee has also added 241 assists (549 points). Lee in the 2025-26 season scored 19 goals and added 23 assists, which is what he has pretty much done throughout his career. Lee had one 34 goal season and a 40 goal season, but Lee has consistently scored anywhere between 19-29 goals since his 40 goal season in the 2017-18 season.

Lee adds some nice experience and will serve as one of the older players on the team. Essentially, the Mammoth by adding Trocheck and Lee seek to add some valuable experience and even some talent to a young team that absolutely needs it. The Mammoth are seeking to compete now, and Lee and Trocheck are going to give a good chance at competing now. The former captain of the Isles also adds some goal-scoring to a team that now has quite a few goal scorers. Simply put, the deal, which is about $5.4M a year, feels like quite a nice win for Utah.
