In 2022, the Arizona Coyotes drafted a player who they hoped would become the next NHL superstar with the 3rd overall selection. Now, at age 22, it seems like Logan Cooley could be the next superstar center. The Mammoth haven't quite seen the best version of Cooley. But Cooley has still shown flashes of brilliance and Cooley could become the offensive force that Utah needs.
Is a Logan Cooley Breakout Coming?
The Utah Mammoth will have Cooley in Utah until 2034 at an extremely cheap AAV of $10M. With that being said, Utah would love to see Cooley become the next superstar center. Cooley only played in 54 games in the 2025-26 season, but Cooley showed fantastic promise as a goal scorer with 24 goals. Cooley has 69 goals in three seasons in his career and could easily be a 30+ goal scorer for Utah. Utah would love to see its potential No. 1 center stack more assists, especially after adding only 19 assists to his 24 goals last season. Cooley scored 65 points in the 2024-25 season, with 25 goals and 40 assists in 75 games. In other words, Cooley has shown potential to add assists and score goals.
The Mammoth would love to see more players with as many points as Clayton Keller, who scored 88 points following a 90-point season. Cooley has the potential to put up such numbers. 30+ goals and 90 points in a season seems like the potential of Cooley. If Utah can get such numbers, then the Mammoth could become a juggernaut and instantly a competitor in the Central Division. Utah would love to compete for a Stanley Cup, and Cooley could definitely help Utah with that
