A 30-year-old left winger, Michael Carcone, has had some success in the past for Utah. In the 2026-27 season, Carcone showed the capability to score goals and add some very nice depth and value to Utah. Carcone may not find himself in the Top 9 in the 2026-27 season, especially with the additions of Anders Lee and Vincent Trocheck. However, Utah definitely has a perfect player who adds depth, experience, and value.
Carcone Had a Great 2025-26 Season, But Can He Continue to Be Huge for Depth and Value?
Carcone, who first played in the NHL at 25, has had some pretty good seasons. Most notably, Carcone scored 21 goals and added only 8 assists, but he certainly showed the ability to score in Arizona. The 2024-25 season was very disappointing for Carcone, though, as he scored just seven goals and added 12 assists in 54 games. This last season was a bounce back for Carcone as he would score 16 goals and add 15 assists for a career high 31 points. Carcone might not even be close to being in the top nine for Utah with the amount of great wingers Utah now has. Trocheck, a center in his career, apparently, will play the center position. Lee, meanwhile, is also a winger. Other wingers include Dylan Guenther, Clayton Keller, Lawson Crouse, Kailer Yamamoto, Daniil But, and even Joshua Roy.
Guenther, Keller, Lee, Trocheck, Crouse, and either Yamamoto or But will probably be the top six wingers. However, that doesn't exactly lessen the importance of Carcone. Carcone can still add significant depth and value. If Carcone can put up numbers as he did in the 2025-26 season, then Carcone adds a great amount of value to Utah. Right now, Utah is really anything but a top-heavy team like some other teams, as Utah doesn't really have a Connor McDavid caliber kind of player.
However, Utah has a great balance, and the fact that they have almost 10 wingers who could genuinely be good is definitely a good thing.
