The Philadelphia Flyers couldn't have imagined how horrendous their start would be. The Flyers ended a long playoff drought and even looked pretty good in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs before the Carolina Hurricanes eliminated them.
The Flyers have yet to win a game, sitting at 0-5-3 through eight games. Some interesting trade targets to watch if Philadelphia becomes so desperate it makes a quick change.
Could the Mammoth be interested in any of the Flyers' potential trade targets?
The Flyers have lost three games in overtime or in a shootout and five in regulation, all while scoring 1 goal or fewer.
Philly is scoring 1.25 goals per game through eight games, a literal nightmare start for a team with a potentially dangerous offense. Too much pressure has fallen on new goalie Joseph Woll, who has actually performed pretty well.
This has brought up some interesting names as potential trade targets, as Philly may be looking for something to spark the team. Travis Konechny is one name who has performed awfully so far, allowing too many goals because of poor decisions with the puck.
He has been a very good goal scorer, scoring 225 goals in his career, all with Philly, but trading him for a guy like Lawson Crouse wouldn't be a bad idea.
Konechny has hurt the offense more than he's helped, and if they can still get a reliable goal scorer plus a bit more, the Flyers could pull the trigger on a trade with the Utah Mammoth.
The Mammoth know Konechny's ceiling is very high, as he can deliver great numbers: 30+ goals and 70+ points. Utah would likely be confident he can turn things around and perform like his former self with the talent Utah has.

There's also another name: Owen Tippett. The 27-year-old is among the fastest players in the NHL and has become a strong goal scorer who can create opportunities on his own. But if Philly can get something valuable in return for Tippett with how bad the offense has been, then again it could pull the trigger.
Utah would love the speed of Tippett on a line with the speed of someone like Logan Cooley, or maybe even on the third line. The Mammoth have a lot of offensive talent that could see someone like Tippett or even Konechny break out in 2026-27.
This is all speculation, but the Flyers are definitely a team to watch in the trade market, given their terrible start to the 2026-27 season.
