Today, the Utah Mammoth announced their rookie camp roster, and we are getting ever closer to the start of the NHL season. This group will start on-ice on September 11th before going to San Jose for a three-game showcase hosted by the Sharks.

This roster is deep with talent, as players are looking to make the jump to the NHL. Names like Tij Iginla, Dmitri Simashev, Daniil But, and Caleb Desnoyers are some of the players who are looking to make a splash and impress the coaching staff to earn a spot on the roster.
A few names to keep an eye on for players to take a step forward and make an impact here and in the AHL, and eventually make the jump, are Gabe Smith, Ardem Duda, and Max Pšenička. These are players who have different talents and are looking to gain an edge in making the team.
Maveric Lamoureux, who, as of this writing, hasn't announced why he won't be attending this year's rookie camp. Lamoureux has had some time up with the Utah Hockey Club and Utah Mammoth the past few years. He has yet to show that he is ready to stay up with the main club. We will have to wait to hear from GM Bill Armstrong on why he is not getting this time and extra reps before training camp starts.
A few players from this years draft aren't apart of this camp. Ethan Belchetz and Adam Valentini are both back with their NCAA teams. If college players attend their rookie camps, they could lose their college eligibility.
This is a deep roster for rookie camp. The Mammoth have one of the top pipelines in the league. The front office will be looking at who will be a part of this team and who can be used as trade bait. Either way, hockey starts up soon.
